Pioneer to Enter Chinese Car Navigation Market

Pioneer announced on Wednesday February 22 that it plans to enter the Chinese market for car navigation products by launching its AVIC-D8000 offering in March. The navigation system has maps covering the three cities of Beijing, Shanghai, and Chongqing, 20 provinces including Guangdong, Fujian, and Sichuan, and the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia and Guangxi. Pioneer has set a sales target of 2,000 units in the fiscal year 2006, which ends in March 2007.
